Tony Trabert was a tennis champion who played in the 1950s. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1930 and began playing tennis at a young age. Trabert went on to attend the University of Cincinnati and played on the varsity tennis team.
In 1951, Trabert won his first major tournament, the U.S. National Indoor Championships. He continued to play well and won the U.S. National Championships in 1953, defeating Vic Seixas in the final. The following year, Trabert won the French Open, Wimbledon, and the U.S. National Championships, becoming only the seventh man in tennis history to win all three major championships in one year.
Trabert's career was cut short by an arm injury in 1956, but he continued to stay involved in tennis as a commentator, coach, and administrator. He was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1970.
